First, be deciding what sound you are looking for. A silk and phosphorus-chain sequence is very warm, while a bronze chain is much brighter. It is considered a Silly sort of both, as they are at opposite ends of the tonal spectrum. I use and recommend Nanoweb Light Gauge Elixir strings sound. They are more expensive, but are now covered and last longer than ordinary strings.
What better indicator string bass is tuned at the level of C?
